Football Recap: Shenandoah Valley Falls to Columbia Montour Vo-Tech in First Game of Season

Shenandoah Valley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 38-19 bruising from the Columbia Montour Vo-Tech Rams on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 11 in a row.

Ethan Bench threw for 155 yards on seven of 17 attempts. Gene Sinkus was his top target, picking up 56 receiving yards. On the ground, Mike Elchisak rushed for 181 yards and two scores while picking up 8.6 yards per carry.

Tyson Brown went supernova For Columbia Montour Vo-Tech., rushing for 163 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Those 163 rushing yards gave Brown a new career-high. Myles Koser was another key player, throwing for 185 yards and one TD on only 15 passes.

Looking ahead, Shenandoah Valley will take on Minersville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Blue Devils their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, they will challenge Morrisville at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
