Basketball Recap: Arrowhead Christian Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Leah Rubio and Anna Bright

Arrowhead Christian Academy lost against Ville de Marie Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Arrowhead Christian Academy Eagles fell to Ville de Marie Academy 32-26. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while Ville de Marie Academy are ranked ninth).

Anna Bright and Leah Rubio certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Bright posted 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Rubio put up eight points and five boards. Bright is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

Even though they lost, Arrowhead Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Arrowhead Christian Academy moved to 10-4 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Ville de Marie Academy, they pushed their record up to 14-0 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

Arrowhead Christian Academy will welcome Verde Valley at 6:00 p.m. on February 4th. Ville de Marie Academy has already played their next matchup, a 66-5 win against Thunderbird Adventist Academy on the 28th.
