            Volleyball Recap: Clairemont Chieftains vs. Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences Vipers        
        
		
        
        
            It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Clairemont had no problem doing just that  on Tuesday. They won by a  set and slipped past the Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences Vipers  3-2. The  win was familiar territory for the Chieftains, who have now won five  matches in a row.
 Clairemont took Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences into a fifth set  where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-17, 19-25, 22-25,  17-15.

 Clairemont got their  victory on the backs of several key players, but it was  Gabe Tocco out in front who  had 13  blocks and 12  kills. Tocco has been hot for a while, having  posted two or more  blocks the last 25 times he's  played. The team also got some help courtesy of  Makoa Miner, who  had 17  kills and four  blocks.
Clairemont's win was  their eighth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 27-10. As for Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences, they moved to 24-8-1 with that  loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
 Looking ahead, Clairemont will face off against Santa Ynez at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their  seventh straight  victory, something the Chieftains surely won't give up without a fight. Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
