Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Calhoun). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Tekamah-Herman Tigers 64-23. Given the Pioneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Tigers are ranked 243rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fort Calhoun got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Raeann Massey out in front who went 6-for-11 to rack up 16 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ansley Elofson, who posted seven points and nine steals.

Fort Calhoun's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 15-7. As for Tekamah-Herman, their defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-20.

Coming up, Fort Calhoun won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Raymond Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Raymond Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Fort Calhoun likes a good challenge. Tekamah-Herman has already played their next contest (against Johnson County Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
