Softball Game Preview: Del Oro Golden Eagles vs. River City Raiders

The Del Oro Golden Eagles will challenge the River City Raiders at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. River City took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Del Oro, who comes in off a win.

Del Oro is headed out to face River City after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Del Oro was the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Placer on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their matchups with the Hillmen: they've now won three in a row.

Mikayla Finn tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Del Oro got a massive performance out of Chloe Champas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. The dominant performance also gave Champas a new career-high in hits (three). Avyn Brower was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Del Oro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Placer only posted an OBP of .158.

Meanwhile, River City had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against Davis Sr., falling 8-1.

River City saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Ramos, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Del Oro was able to grind out a solid victory over River City in their previous matchup back in March of 2018, winning 7-3. Does Del Oro have another victory up their sleeve, or will River City turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
