Recap: Saugus Centurions vs. Canyon Cowboys
This season hasn't been kind to The Saugus Centurions, who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 28-13 to Canyon. Saugus was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Canyon apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Saugus' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Cj Mound, who picked up 41 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Jayden Lepley, who picked up 151 receiving yards.
Saugus' defeat was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Valencia and 6-3 Hart (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.5% over those games). As for Canyon, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Saugus will head out on the road to face off against Golden Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Golden Valley is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for Canyon, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Valencia at 7:00 p.m. Valencia has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 215 points over their last five contests.
