Soccer Recap: Washington Takes a Loss

Washington was the 3-0 winner over Princeton when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Tigers who were credited with the victory on Thursday. The Princeton Tigers got it done in the shootout by posting six goals to the Washington Hatchets' five. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Washington came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana soccer rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Princeton are ranked 214th).

Marc Talleyrand and Santos Lopez scored both of Washington's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Washington's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 8-4-1. As for Princeton, their record is now 6-7-1.

Washington has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Heritage Hills on the 27th. As for Princeton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next contest, a 5-2 defeat against Tell City on the 27th.
