Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Brynlee Richardson and Ellie Maurer Lead Central Texas Christian to Victory

Central Texas Christian posted their closest win since December 30, 2024 on Friday. They skirted past the Covenant Knights 26-24. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Central Texas Christian was led to victory by Ellie Maurer and Brynlee Richardson. Maurer posted seven points in addition to nine boards and five steals, while Richardson went 5 of 7 on her way to 11 points. Maurer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

Central Texas Christian's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Covenant, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Texas Christian will head out to face off against Keystone at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. Central Texas Christian is facing Keystone at the right time seeing as Keystone is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
