Carmen Arkin leads a balanced attack to beat Boulder

Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post ten more assists than your opponent, a fact the Fossil Ridge SaberCats proved on Friday. They walked away with a 54-43 victory over Boulder. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Fossil Ridge.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fossil Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carmen Arkin, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Arkin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Wale, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Despite the loss, Boulder still got an impressive performance from Megan Matthews, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Matthews continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.

The victory got Fossil Ridge back to even at 5-5. As for Boulder, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Fossil Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Castle View at 12:30 p.m. on January 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Castle View is ranked 94th, while Fossil Ridge is ranked 91st). As for Boulder, they will head out on the road to take on Fort Collins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Fort Collins' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Boulder has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
