Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cheboygan). They blew past the Charlevoix Rayders 12-2 on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Chiefs considering their one-run performance the game before.
Jenna Dodder was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
Dodder wasn't the only one making solid contact: Cheboygan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Charlevoix only managed one hit.
Cheboygan moved to 3-10 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Charlevoix, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Cheboygan will look to defend their home field on Monday against Harbor Springs at 4:15 p.m. The Chiefs are facing the Rams at the right time seeing as the Rams are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Charlevoix, they will square off against Glen Lake at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
