The Argonaut Mustangs are taking a road trip to face off against the Antelope Titans at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Argonaut is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Argonaut easily dispatched McNair back in February, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Argonaut fell just short of Cosumnes Oaks by a score of 5-3 two weeks ago. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mustangs have suffered since April 22, 2024.

Argonaut saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Clayton Hardy, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Antelope came up short against El Dorado on Wednesday, falling 18-5. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Adrian Martinez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Aaron Gaines also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Argonaut moved to 3-1 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Antelope, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Argonaut has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Antelope struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
