Baseball Game Preview: Woods Cross Wildcats vs. Bonneville Lakers

For the second straight game, Woods Cross will face off against Bonneville. The Wildcats will host the Lakers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Woods Cross has four straight victories, Bonneville has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Woods Cross is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Bonneville with a sharp 15-5 win on Wednesday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Paxton Healy made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, Max Moffat was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. He has become a key player for Woods Cross: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Beau Blackwell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Woods Cross pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Bonneville, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
