Recap: Neosho Wildcats vs. Joplin Eagles
The Neosho Wildcats lost against the Joplin Eagles back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Neosho had to suffer through a rough 56-24 loss at the hands of Joplin. Neosho has struggled against Joplin recently, as their match on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Neosho lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tyrone Harris. Despite the final result, he picked up 160 receiving yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Quenton Hughes, who threw for 258 yards and a touchdown.
Quin Renfro continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Joplin, rushing for 334 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Renfro is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Hobbs Gooch was another key contributor, rushing for 42 yards and a touchdown.
Neosho's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Joplin, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Neosho will challenge Raytown South at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Joplin will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Kickapoo at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Kickapoo is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
