Basketball Recap: Orange County Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

Orange County won the last time they faced Monticello, and Laylianah McBrayer did her part to make sure it happened again. The Orange County Fighting Hornets put the hurt on the Monticello Mustangs with a sharp 61-36 victory on Monday thanks to McBrayer, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds. She has become a key player for Orange County: the team is 11-5 when she posts at least eight boards, but 2-4 otherwise.

The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Hearl, who posted eight points and five assists. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in assists.

Monticello lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Lily Outland, who earned nine points and five rebounds. Layla J was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 11 boards.

The win made it two in a row for Orange County and bumps their season record up to 13-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points over those games. As for Monticello, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.

As of now, neither Orange County nor Monticello have any future games scheduled.
