With a playoff win on the line, Astoria rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past The Dalles Riverhawks 4-3. Four seems to be a good number for the Fishermen as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Maddie Wilkin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, Nayomi Holmstedt was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Hailey Svensen, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Astoria has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for The Dalles, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.
