Baseball Recap: Minnesota Valley Lutheran Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against New Ulm Cathedral, Minnesota Valley Lutheran was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds 2-1. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Joshua Vander Plas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Minnesota Valley Lutheran saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Sexton, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Minnesota Valley Lutheran's record is now 10-7. As for Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-13 record.

Looking ahead, Minnesota Valley Lutheran will challenge Le Sueur-Henderson at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Chargers 3.9, the Giants 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
