Volleyball Recap: Amherst's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Amherst extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping them up to 7-3. They blew past the Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs 3-0. This was payback for the Broncos, who suffered a 3-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Amherst found their leader in sophomore Breckyn Layne Veskerna, who had 11 digs. Jessa Anderson also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.

As for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, they moved to 7-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since October 29, 2024.

Lily Hrasky and Taryn Arbuthnot certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Hrasky had 24 digs, while Arbuthnot had 28 digs, 16 kills, and two blocks. Arbuthnot is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 40 games she's played dating back to last season.

After both having extra time off, Amherst and Gothenburg will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another on Tuesday. As for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, they will face off against Hyannis at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
