Recap: Marshall Rams vs. Churchill Chargers
The Marshall Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. They suffered a rough 74-51 loss at the hands of Churchill. While losing is never fun, Marshall can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 868th, while Churchill is ranked 398th).
Marshall lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aric Goodman, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Goodman hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Powell, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Marshall were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. This was only their 19th loss (out of 25 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Marshall's defeat was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-24. As for Churchill, their win bumped their record up to 14-17.
Marshall will face off against SA Roosevelt at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Marshall focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday. As for Churchill, they will head out on the road to square off against Lee at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
