The Vista del Lago Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Pioneer Patriots at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Vista del Lago barely beat Christian Brothers the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 15-8 margin over the Falcons on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Meanwhile, Pioneer had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
Jia Beebe made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Gracie McGinty was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Marisa Bryson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Pioneer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Pioneer's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Vista del Lago, their record is now 9-10.
Vista del Lago skirted past Pioneer 6-5 when the teams last played back in May of 2016. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
