Basketball Recap: Harnett Central Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Triton on Wednesday, Harnett Central came back down to earth. The Trojans came up short against the Fuquay - Varina Bengals on Monday, falling 56-30. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bengals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.

Despite the defeat, Harnett Central saw an underclassman step up: freshman Emma Avery posted 15 points and five boards. That was a full 50% of the Trojans' points, marking the third time in a row Avery has scored more than a third of the team's points. Keimora McAllister also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Abigail Meaney was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 13 points and five assists. What's more, she also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Aevri Harrington was another key player, putting up 11 points and six rebounds.

Harnett Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Fuquay - Varina, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Coming up, Harnett Central will venture away from home to challenge Clayton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fuquay - Varina, they have already played their next matchup, a 64-40 win against Athens Drive on the 25th.
