Softball Recap: Okeechobee Takes a Loss

If Okeechobee was riding high fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Suncoast last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Okeechobee Brahmans came up short against the Sumner Stingrays on Friday, falling 14-5.

Melaine Bonilla made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tehya Nunez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Okeechobee's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Sumner, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

Okeechobee has already played their next match (against Bartow), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sumner will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on East Bay at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. Sumner is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
