Baseball Game Preview: University Prep Panthers vs. Anderson Cubs

For the second straight game, University Prep will face off against Anderson. The Panthers will head out to square off against the Cubs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, University Prep got the win against Anderson by a conclusive 11-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Tommy Smith made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025.

Smith wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Willie Stripling, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Stripling is becoming a predictor of University Prep's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 7-13-1 when he doesn't). Braylon Ballestrasse was another, earning three runs and one stolen base.

University Prep's win bumped their record up to 10-14-1. As for Anderson, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-16.
