Basketball Recap: Big Pine Warriors vs. Baker Braves
Big Pine has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 42-38 heartbreaker at the hands of the Baker Braves. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 40-39 last Friday.
Despite the defeat, Big Pine saw an underclassman step up: sophomore NOAH ERICSON posted 17 points.
Baker was led to victory by Anthony Ortiz and Anthony Ibarra. Ortiz went 8 of 15 on his way to 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Ibarra scored ten points and seven steals. Ibarra has been hot, having posted four or more steals the last seven times he's played.
Big Pine's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Baker, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.
Coincidentally, both will both be playing Lee Vining the next time they take the court. Baker will head out to face Lee Vining at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Big Pine will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
