After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lehi, Desert Hills was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 43-32 victory over the Centennial Bulldogs. The high-scoring effort was just what the Thunder needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.
Tytan Mason went supernova for Desert Hills, rushing for 268 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry, and also catching a touchdown. Desert Hills also got help from Austin Wintle, who showed off his sure hands for 156 receiving yards.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Desert Hills was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 353 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Centennial only rushed for 152.
Desert Hills' defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged three passes before it was all said and done. It was truly a group effort as Broc Mooy, Cyrus Polu, and Malikhi Perry picked up one apiece.
Centennial's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khyren Harris, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Harris' longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Jayden "Jet" Thomas, who picked up 147 receiving yards and a touchdown.
