Basketball Recap: Julian Comes Up Short

Julian fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Cahokia on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 74-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Comanches. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Julian lost, don't look at Will Chapman. Despite the final result, he posted 17 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Malakhi Calahan, who earned eight points.

Cahokia was led to victory by Zetaveyon Grant and Corrion Raiford. Grant made all 7 shots he took for 16 points, while Raiford went 7-for-9 to rack up 15 points and seven boards. What's more, Raiford also posted a 78% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January. Taven Miller was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Julian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Cahokia, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-7.

Julian has already played their next matchup, a 73-50 win against Sumner/Northwest Academy of Law on the 31st. As for Cahokia, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-45 loss against Southridge on the 31st.
