Basketball Recap: Houlka Beats Myrtle for Their Third Straight Victory

Houlka had won two straight games and Jerome Staton did his part to make it three on Friday. The Houlka Wildcats blew past the Myrtle Hawks 74-53 thanks in part to Staton, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 24 points. Those 24 points gave him a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Foster, who posted eight points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played.

Houlka is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points per game. As for Myrtle, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Houlka will look to defend their home court on December 27th against Thrasher at 7:30 p.m. As for Myrtle, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Byers at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
