The Mattawan Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Forest Hills Eastern Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mattawan's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Forest Hills Eastern's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Monday, Mattawan needed a bit of extra time to put away Norrix. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Knights 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.
Nolan Jominy made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Liam Walsh was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Patrick Dougherty, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Forest Hills Eastern earned a 12-7 win over Northview on Saturday. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Jackson Greene, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Forest Hills Eastern is undefeated when Greene posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Ferrick, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Mattawan's record is now 7-2-1. As for Forest Hills Eastern, their record now sits at 5-3.
Mattawan beat Forest Hills Eastern 10-7 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
