Basketball Recap: Northeast Dubois Falls Despite Big Games from Lyllee Schnell and Ava Helming

Northeast Dubois lost against Jasper back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Northeast Dubois Jeeps received a blow as they fell 41-27 to the Jasper Wildcats. The matchup marked the Jeeps' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Northeast Dubois' loss came despite strong showings from Ava Helming and Lyllee Schnell. Helming posted nine points and five rebounds, while Schnell earned five points along with ten boards and three blocks. Schnell is becoming a predictor of Northeast Dubois' success: when she posts at least eight boards the team is 6-1 (and 1-4 when she doesn't).

Northeast Dubois' defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5. As for Jasper, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Northeast Dubois will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on West Washington at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Jasper, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 31-27 victory against Southridge on the 20th.
