Volleyball Recap: Westland Hialeah Comes Up Short

Westland Hialeah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Hialeah-Miami Lakes Trojans, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

While Westland Hialeah was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Hialeah-Miami Lakes' winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-10, 25-13.

Hialeah-Miami Lakes can attribute much of their success to Alex Llaurado, who had four digs and four aces. That's the most digs Llaurado has posted over his last two games.

Westland Hialeah's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Hialeah-Miami Lakes, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Westland Hialeah will host Miami Springs at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hialeah-Miami Lakes, they have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Northwestern on the 3rd.
