Softball Recap: Gilbert Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Gilbert duked it out with Mesquite on Friday. The Tigers came up short against the Wildcats, falling 9-3. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Kaiya Imel made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Imel is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Gilbert now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Mesquite, the victory was the fourth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Gilbert will take on Westwood in a tournament on Friday. As for Mesquite, they will be taking part in a tournament against Mohave at 11:15 a.m. on Friday.
