Volleyball Recap: Austin Black Bears vs. Hewitt-Trussville Huskies

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Austin couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. It was the first time this season that the Black Bears let down their fans at home.

Austin took Hewitt-Trussville into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-17, 24-26, 15-25, 15-9.

Amari Woods paced Austin's offense, picking up 13 kills. Woods got some help from Maggie Jae Marsh and her 27 assists. Marsh was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Austin's loss dropped their record down to 44-8. As for Hewitt-Trussville, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-11.

As of now, neither Austin nor the Huskies have any future games scheduled.
