Baseball Game Preview: Hilmar Yellowjackets vs. Los Banos Tigers

The Hilmar Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to challenge the Los Banos Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hilmar has six straight wins, Los Banos has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Hilmar had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Le Grand on Thursday. Hilmar was the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Le Grand. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won five matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Caleb Contreras and Xavier Silveira dominated on the mound. Contreras pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits, while Silveira pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Tanner Westmoreland was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (four). Jacob Sward was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Hilmar always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Le Grand only posted an OBP of .320.

Meanwhile, Los Banos might've scored the first runs on Wednesday, but it was Mountain House who claimed the real prize. Los Banos fell just short of Mountain House by a score of 11-9.

Hilmar pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.5 runs. As for Los Banos, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
