The Heritage Hills Patriots will take on the Loogootee Lions at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Heritage Hills has four straight wins, Loogootee has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Heritage Hills got the win against Mt. Vernon by a conclusive 14-4. Considering the Patriots have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Micah Toler made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Heritage Hills got a massive performance out of Andersen Smith, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Smith has posted since back in May of 2024. Braden Pruitt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.
Heritage Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive games.
Evansville Christian hit Loogootee with a five-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lions fell 8-3 to the Eagles.
Heritage Hills' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Loogootee, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Everything went Heritage Hills' way against Loogootee when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Heritage Hills made off with a 15-4 victory. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
