Volleyball Recap: Hemphill Hornets vs. Kelly Catholic Bulldogs
Hemphill extended their losing streak to six on Saturday, dropping them down to 1-8. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Kelly Catholic Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 last Thursday.
As for Kelly Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 0-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Abigail Brown was nothing short of spectacular: she had 13 digs, eight kills, three blocks, and three aces. Those 13 digs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nicole Gay, who had eight assists and five digs.
Coming up, Hemphill will face off against Kountze at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kelly Catholic, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-1 win against West Hardin on the 23rd.
