Baseball Recap: Wesleyan's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wesleyan can now relate to. They came up short against the Lovett Lions on Wednesday, falling 8-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Wolves haven't been shut out since back in February.

Grayson McCollum was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Knox Bingam made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. William Wright was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

The loss snapped Wesleyan's winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 22-8 record. As for Lovett, their record is now 28-6.

While Wesleyan had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
