Preview: Northeast Vikings vs. Hollins Royals
Northeast has been on the road for three straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Hollins Royals at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Northeast pushed their score all the way to 70 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Admiral Farragut by a score of 72-70. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Northeast has suffered yet this season.
Hollins suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 78-42 defeat at the hands of Gibbs. Hollins has struggled against Gibbs recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Loss or not, Hollins got some senior leadership from Malachi Miller and Josh Castallani. Miller scored 18 points along with two steals and two blocks, while Castallani. scored nine points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Miller has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played.
Northeast's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-10. As for Hollins, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.
Northeast strolled past Hollins in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 80-66. Will Northeast repeat their success, or does Hollins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
