Basketball Recap: Mater Academy Charter Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Mater Academy Charter couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost 69-45 to the Homestead Broncos on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Lions have suffered since November 26, 2024.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hannah Osei, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards. What's more, Osei also racked up six steals, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Halle Jordan was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Mater Academy Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Homestead, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Mater Academy Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Homestead, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-32 loss against Southridge on the 8th.
