Baseball Game Preview: Rogers Pirates vs. Mars Hill Bible Panthers

The Rogers Pirates will face off against the Mars Hill Bible Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rogers will be strutting in after a win while Mars Hill Bible will be coming in after a defeat.

Rogers will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Wilson, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Warriors on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Bo Mitchell made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Rogers is 5-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-11 otherwise. Mitchell was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 13 games.

In other batting news, Curtis Campbell was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Rogers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-13 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Ty Caperton, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Mars Hill Bible faced off against Haleyville on Monday. The Panthers fell just short of the Lions by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since March 2, 2024.

The victory snapped Rogers' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-13 record. As for Mars Hill Bible, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.
