Basketball Recap: Travelers Rest Takes a Loss

If Travelers Rest was feeling good fresh off their 55-30 takedown of Southside last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Travelers Rest Devildogs took a 44-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mauldin Mavericks on Thursday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Devildogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 40-22 last Friday.

Among those leading the charge was Destiny Mattison, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Imani McIver, who posted eight points and nine rebounds.

Travelers Rest now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Mauldin, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Travelers Rest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-19 win against Liberty on the 13th. As for Mauldin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 47-41 victory against Fountain Inn on the 17th.
