Recap: Gering Bulldogs vs. Ogallala Indians
The Gering Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 50-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ogallala. While losing is never fun, Gering can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Ogallala is ranked 41st).
Gering's loss came despite strong showings from Jacelyn Brown and Jenna Davis. Brown scored 12 points, while Davis scored nine points along with seven rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her.
Gering's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-3. As for Ogallala, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Gering won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Torrington at 5:30 p.m. on December 16th. Torrington is on a three-game streak of home losses, Gering a ten-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. Ogallala won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hershey at 4:00 p.m. on December 16th. Hershey is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53 points per game.
