Volleyball Recap: Ayer Shirley Has No Trouble Against Algonquin Regional

After losing to Algonquin Regional the last time they met, Ayer Shirley decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Panthers blew past the Titans 3-0 on Thursday. The Panthers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27th (when they won 3-0).

Ayer Shirley never let Algonquin Regional on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-22, 25-19.

Miles Pyatt paced Ayer Shirley's offense, picking up ten kills. Pyatt were helped by Griffon Cotter and Nicholas Williams, who contributed ten assists each. Pyatt also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Lukas Biddle, racking up two apiece.

Ayer Shirley's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-9. As for Algonquin Regional, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Ayer Shirley has already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against North on the 12th. Algonquin Regional has also already played their next matchup (against North Middlesex Regional), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
