Petoskey had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Houghton on Thursday. The Northmen never let the Gremlins get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Northmen have won 13 matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Bre VerCautren was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Alexis Cadarette was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Lyla Janes was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

The victory (which was Petoskey's third in a row) raised their record to 29-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Houghton, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-13.

As of now, neither Petoskey nor the Gremlins have any future games scheduled.
