Baseball Game Preview: Northeast Eagles vs. Dickson County Cougars

The Northeast Eagles will take on the Dickson County Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northeast is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Northeast is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Mount Juliet just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Golden Bears by a score of 5-3.

Cayden Young was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Young wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Skaggs, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Dickson County waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Indians. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted against the Indians since March 14, 2022.

Northeast now has a losing record of 15-16. As for Dickson County, their victory bumped their record up to 13-16.

Northeast was able to grind out a solid win over Dickson County when the teams last played back in April of 2016, winning 17-13. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
