Basketball Recap: Lily Sullivan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Dawson School over Stargate School

Dawson School was the 31-20 winner over Stargate School when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Dawson School Mustangs lost to the Stargate School Eagles at home by a 44-25 margin on Wednesday. The loss was the Mustangs' first of the season.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lily Sullivan, who posted 14 points. That was a full 56% of Dawson School's points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Stargate School's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sloan Kunz, who went 6 of 11 en route to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Ridgell, who put up seven points along with eight steals and six boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Dawson School fell to 2-1. As for Stargate School, with the victory, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-2.

Dawson School wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 42-19 defeat against Liberty Common on the 17th. As for Stargate School, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 33-21 win against Estes Park on the 13th.
