Basketball Recap: Easton Duft's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fremont over Syracuse

Fremont lost against Syracuse back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Fremont Silverwolves took a 68-52 bruising from the Syracuse Titans. The Silverwolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fremont's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Easton Duft, who went 7-for-15 on his way to 17 points. Cam Campbell was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Fremont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Syracuse was led to victory by Skyler Orton and Bradlee Trejo. Orton went 7-for-12 en route to 22 points and five rebounds, while Trejo went 7-for-11 to rack up 16 points. With that strong performance, Orton is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Beckam Rees, who posted five points and five boards.

Fremont's loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Syracuse, their record now sits at 10-12.

Looking ahead, Fremont will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Layton at 7:00 p.m. Layton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 73.1 points per game this season. As for Syracuse, they will face off against Farmington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Syracuse also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 64.2 points per game.
