The Emerson Mavericks will challenge the Independence Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Emerson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.5 goals per game this season.

Emerson took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Frisco by a score of 3-1. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Emerson's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Frisco are ranked 208th).

Emerson hit Frisco with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Griffin Taylor, John Pacheco, and Will Abraham.

Meanwhile, Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to Heritage. That's two games in a row now that Independence have lost by exactly two goals.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 2-7-2. As for Emerson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That somehow still isn't as good as their 10-1-1 record this season.

Emerson got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in February of 2025 against Independence by a conclusive 5-0 score. Will the Mavericks repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
