The Tour of Champions honors the St. Benedict Grey Bees
So, once again we return to the great Garden State, this time to St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, NJ. As we walked into the school we were impressed with the fantastic facilities and honored to be in the presences of one of New Jersey's premier teams.
The team ceremony took place in the last hour of the school day on Tuesday, May 1st . While awaiting the ceremony Specialist Carlson and Sgt. Ormaza mingled with the team and handed out special gifts to each of the players.
The guru of New York High School Sports and MaxPreps Representative, Rod Mergardt, was on hand again for the ceremony. Rod spoke highly of the teams accomplishments and honored all the seniors for their leadership throughout the season. Sgt. Ormaza of the Army National Guard then presented Coach Joe Sokolewicz the National Ranking trophy for St. Benedict's Prep 15th ranking position.
Coach Joe Sokolewicz thanked the Guard and MaxPreps. Rod then presented the T-Mobile MOP recipient, senior Corey Stokes, with a trophy and wished him success as he plays for Villanova next year. A return to St. Benedict's Prep is very likely for 2008!
