Basketball Recap: Wheatley Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

Wheatley entered their tilt with Scarborough on Monday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They took their match with ease, bagging an 81-10 victory over the Scarborough Spartans. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 508th, while the Spartans are ranked 1605th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wheatley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamie Solomon led the charge by going 14 of 23 en route to 30 points and three steals. The game was Solomon's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Caria Thomas was another key player, going 6 for 12 on her way to 12 points in addition to eight assists and seven steals.

Wheatley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 33 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
