Baseball Recap: Gibault Catholic Comes Up Short

Gibault Catholic blew Alton out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Alton got their revenge. The Hawks fell just short of the Redbirds by a score of 2-0. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Redbirds apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Carson Timmons was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those two hits allowed gave him a new career-low.

Gibault Catholic has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Alton, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gibault Catholic will host Civic Memorial at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Alton, they will welcome Collinsville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
