Softball Recap: Aubrey Rogers Comes Up Short

Aubrey Rogers extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 8-12 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gulf Coast Sharks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sharks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-18 back in February.

Aubrey Rogers saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Bennett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

As for Gulf Coast, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games.

On Gulf Coast's side, Taylor Stalling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Stalling has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hannah Rearden was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles.

Coincidentally, Aubrey Rogers and Gulf Coast will both be playing Schoolhouse Prep the next time they take the field. The Sharks will head out to face the Wolfpack at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Patriots will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
